10/5 MEBDA and Pumpkin Festival

Congratulations to the Southern New Hampshire Concert Band Festival participants (9/28).  The quality of your performance improved dramatically throughout the day, and your level of musicianship and engagement was outstanding. A special thank you goes out to Mr. Benevides, his students, and the SHS administration for hosting this great festival.   Thanks also to Mrs. Leite (Campbell), Mr. Rogers (HB), Mr. Umstead (festival organizer) and their students.  Bravo!

Pumpkin Festival
October 11-13

In order to make this weekend happen, many volunteers are needed (both students and adults).  Students seeking a scholarship from the MHS Music Booster are required to volunteer with the group at least once each year.  This weekend is a great opportunity for them to do that.

Students may sign-up to volunteer in class.

REHEARSAL 2:30-4:30
GAME 7:00-10:00

The Milford High School Marching Spartans hare happy to welcome members of the 8th grade band and chorus to this Friday’s home football game vs. Souhegan. Students will perform together as a mass band during the first quarter. At halftime, the Marching Spartans will perform their fall show, Ultra Terra. Come and support the football team, cheerleaders and band. The game starts at 7pm, but plan to arrive a few minutes early to grab your seats and catch the band as they play the national anthem.

Krispy Kreme Donuts:For those of you new to the HS Music Boosters, the Pumpkin Festival is one of largest fundraisers, and part of the success is selling Krispy Kreme original glazed donuts. We make a couple trips to the store in Saco Maine, and pick them up fresh.  Most of them are still warm!   Last year, between orders, a home football game that weekend, and the 3 days of the Pumpkin Festival, we sold 800 dozen donuts!!!

We are now accepting orders now through October 2nd. Orders (with payment) are due by 5:30pm on Wednesday, October 2nd and can be turned in to Becky Anderson (I will be at the school at the end of the Marching Band’s rehearsal), Mrs. Erdody or Mr. Smith. Late orders will not be able to be accepted. The cost is $10/dozen.

Orders can be picked up at the High School on Friday, October 11th once the driver arrives back in Milford (typically by about 2pm). You also can choose to pick up your order at the Pumpkin Festival booth on Friday evening after 5pm, or on Saturday morning after 10am. Please indicate your choice on the order form.

Gift Card donations/Pie Baking Help:In addition to the doughnuts, we also sell homemade pumpkin pies at the festival.  Previous years, we have had individual parent volunteers make them.  For the last 2 years, we have opted to use 1 specific recipe that a group of volunteers made using the kitchen at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club and supplies purchased with gift card donated by several boosters members.  This allowed us to have a consistent product to sell, and we received lots of complements on the recipe!  We are looking to do that again this year.  To make that happen, we are looking for donations of Shaw’s gift cards so we can purchase supplies to make the pies.  Any amount will help.  If you’d like to make a donation, please let me or Kari Raiano (Pumpkin Fest Coordinator) to arrange pickup on or before October 5th.
If you’d like to help make the pies, we will be baking at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club on Thursday, October 10th (time tbd).  They have 4 ovens and a large kitchen, so it makes the process go smoothly.  We make 2 different varieties – traditional baked maple pumpkin pies, as well as mini no-bake pumpkin cheesecakes.  It’s BYOA (bring your own apron 😉
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thank you!
